DIY Macarena-Inspired Mineral Blush (Cool-Toned Jewel for Every Skin Tone)
Looking for a blush that gives just the right pop of color—cool-toned, jewel-inspired, and universally flattering? This handcrafted mineral blush was inspired by a shade we once carried called Macarena, a gorgeous cool berry tone that has since been discontinued. But good news: I’ve recreated a very close match that you can DIY at home, or simply enjoy knowing the magic behind the formula.
This shade has a luminous yet balanced finish, making it wearable across skin tones—from fair to deep. The cool undertones give it a jewel-toned quality without pulling too purple or too red. It’s perfect for adding a vibrant, fresh glow while still feeling natural and soft.

💎 The Bordeaux-Inspired Mica Blend
To achieve the right color depth and sheen, I recreated the key mica blend using ingredients available from Voyager Soap & Candle in Canada.
Blend together:
3.75 grams Rose Quartz Mica
0.25 grams Aubergine Purple Mica
This gives you a beautiful Bordeaux-style mica with shimmer and complexity—perfect as a base for blush, eyeshadow, or even a rich lip tint.

🫶 The Macarena Blush Formula
Once your custom mica blend is ready, use the following to create the finished blush:
4 grams of your Bordeaux mica blend
5 grams of base, made from:
3.75 grams Sericite Mica (75%)
1.25 grams Zinc Oxide (25%)
This blend creates a silky-smooth mineral blush with just the right balance of color payoff, blendability, and skin-loving ingredients.

✨ Tips for Use
Apply lightly with a fluffy blush brush for a soft, diffused glow.
For deeper color payoff, build up gradually or try applying over a light cream base.
This also works beautifully as an eyeshadow for a monochrome berry-toned look.
Whether you're into DIY or just love peeking behind the scenes at our formulations, I hope this brings a little color and creativity into your beauty routine.
Stay radiant,
Kathy 💜
