When Lilac Earth first launched, our foundation range was wide — over 20 different shades at one point. We thought that more options meant better chances of finding a perfect match. But over time, I realized that more didn’t always mean better.

What most people don’t know is that I actually started experimenting with foundation way back in 2010. I didn’t sell anything until 2016, but for years before that, I was mixing, testing, and learning. Like many beginner formulators, I started with pre-blended pigments like orange and brown oxide. I quickly realized that subtle undertones mattered more than I’d imagined — tiny adjustments could make or break how a foundation looked on the skin. Those early days taught me patience, precision, and the importance of really understanding minerals.

From Silken Matte to Balanced Cover

Over the years, we created several mineral foundation formulas, each with its own personality, coverage level, and finish. Silken Matte became a favorite for its smooth, buildable coverage. Radiant Glow and Flawless Full also had their moments, though they’ve since been discontinued as my approach evolved. Each formula taught me something new: how pigments interact, how undertones shift in different lights, and how sensitive skin responds to ingredients.

For those extremely hard-to-match cases, we’ve introduced Tone Adjusters — concentrated pigment blends you can add to your foundation at home. They let you:
